Material Selection Requirements
Many a part failure is due to poor assessment of service conditions by the designers. Carefully consider the extremes of environmental conditions the part might face beyond the normal usage e.g. during shipping and other unexpected but not unlikely events. Anticipate and evaluate the effect of temperature, chemicals, humidity lubricants, cleaning agents and U.V. light. For moving parts involving friction and wear, pay attention to dust and other airborne particles that may affect performance. |
