Polyurethane dispersions for waterborne
adhesives
High-molecular-weight polyurethanes
form the basis for the Dispercoll® U product range for aqueous
dispersions.
Properties:
The Dispercoll® U grades differ in their heat activation temperature.
Their solids content is between 40 and 50 percent. Adhesives based
on Dispercoll® U can be optimized for the particular application
through appropriate formulation. The Dispercoll® U grades are
based exclusively on aliphatic raw materials, which are resistant
to yellowing.
Uses:
Dispercoll® U has proved useful in applications where high forces
and stresses occur and where high initial strength is therefore
specified. Furthermore, Dispercoll U is suitable for the production
of bonds with high flexibility and resistance to plasticizers and
grease. A typical area of application in the furniture segment is
the lamination of MDF (medium-density fiberboard) board with decorative
film for kitchen fronts by the so-called 3D membrane-press technology.

Advantages:
- Outstanding adhesion to numerous synthetic materials (e.g. highly
plasticized PVC)
- Environmental friendliness
- Resistance to moisture and water
- High heat resistance when use is made of an emulsifiable crosslinking
isocyanate
- Freedom from discoloration
- Good compatibility with the most common types of polymer dispersions
