Bayer Plastics for the Medical Industry

Bayer MaterialScience has an established record for product safety and effectiveness in medical devices. Over the years, medical product manufacturers have come to rely on Bayer to provide technically advanced materials that can help meet the critical design, manufacturing and end-use performance parameters of a variety of medical device and packaging applications. This includes polycarbonates (PC), polycarbonate blends (PC/ABS) and thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU).

Some Bayer thermoplastic resins meet biocompatibility compliance (FDA-modified ISO 10993-1 tests). In addition, FDA and drug master files are maintained for Bayer medical products. To learn more about these resins, use the links below to our polycarbonate resins and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) resins pages.

Polyurethanes for Medical Equipment Housings

Additionally, Bayer polyurethane reaction injection molding (RIM) systems have been used for many years to economically produce the housings of laboratory and medical equipment in smaller volumes that cannot be molded economically with thermoplastics.

Bayer plastics can be found in a wide variety of medical applications including dialysis systems, cardiovascular devices, intravenous components, drug delivery systems, surgical devices, syringes, equipment housings, diagnostic supplies, tubing, catheters and blood cell separation devices.
