Polyols for the production of prepolymers

Bayer polyols marketed under the names Acclaim®, Arcol®, Multranol® (polyether polyols) and Desmophen® (polyester polyols) form isocyanate-terminated prepolymers when combined with monomeric polyisocyanates of the Desmodur® and Mondur® range.

Properties: The Desmophen® polyester grades differ with regard to their adhesion and viscosity. Whereas the polyester grades have particularly high specific adhesion to various materials, formulations containing our polyether grades are noted for their outstanding viscosity and the hydrolytic stability of their bonds. The fatty acid modified polyester grades are used mainly for producing bonds with particularly good resistance to hydrolysis.

Uses: The polyol grades mentioned above have produced particularly good results in the production of Adhesives and Specialties for the bonding of plastic, metal and glass in a variety of applications.

Advantages:

  • high strength and resistance of the bond
  • wide variety of adhesives can be produced
  • flexible even at low temperatures
