Polyisocyanates for reactive systems

Bayer's Desmodur® L, N and Mondur® MR and MRS are polyisocyanate raw materials which, when used in combination with our polyether polyols (Acclaim®, Multranol® and Arcol®), produce reactive adhesives.

Properties: The Mondur MR and MRS grades are MDI-Based polyisocyanates and differ from one another in their isomer composition. The Mondur® MR and MRS grades contain higher-functional isomer contents with a functionality above 2. The result is an optimized, controlled reactivity with polyols, thus simplifying the otherwise complicated process of coordinating the reaction parameters. The variability of the Desmodur® and Mondur® grades makes it possible to formulate adhesives that can be optimized with regard to bond flexibility, specific adhesion to a variety of substrates, durability of the bond and curing speed. Desmodur® L grades are used as crosslinking agents for solventborne adhesives containing hydroxyl groups. Desmodur® N grades are used as co-reactants for adhesives with good resistance to discoloration.

Uses:
Desmodur® L, N, Mondur® MR and MRS grades have proved particularly useful for the production of adhesives for sandwich construction in the automotive industry.

Advantages:

  • Adhesion-promoting effect on plastics
  • High heat stability
  • Resistance to solvents, plasticizers and grease
  • Rapid crosslinking
  • Flexible even at low temperatures
