Updated Inorganic Chemicals Guide Provides Building Blocks for Success for Bayer MaterialScience Customers

May 11, 2006

PITTSBURGH, May. 11, 2006 — Bayer MaterialScience LLC announces the release of Your Building Blocks for Success, a newly updated reference guide to the chlor-alkali products available from the company's Inorganic Basic Chemicals business unit.

The guide provides an overview of Bayer MaterialScience's food-grade and NSF-certified chlor-alkali products — caustic soda, hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorate and spent sulfuric acid. In addition, it addresses the applications, production, distribution and transportation of these products.

The booklet also describes Bayer's BayCareSM Progressive Product Stewardship Program and BayCareSM Online Resource center (www.BayCareOnline.com). BayCare is a multi-phased, comprehensive product stewardship program designed to reduce environmental impact, improve process safety and foster positive relationships with neighbors in plant communities.
