Bayer MaterialScience LLC was recently honored with the 2009 North American Polycarbonate in Medical Devices Customer Value Leadership Award by Frost & Sullivan.
Frost & Sullivan's Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices.
“With the development of the highly reliable Makrolon®, Apec® and Bayblend® medical grade products, coupled with a dedicated technical support team, Bayer MaterialScience has been able to address the key requirements of the market,” says Aniruddh Menon, research analyst, Frost & Sullivan. |
In singling out the company for the award, Frost & Sullivan mentioned a number of Bayer MaterialScience’s contributions to the medical market. Frost & Sullivan noted that Makrolon, Apec and Bayblend medical grades have met certain requirements of FDA-Modified ISO 10993, Part 1 tests, providing Bayer MaterialScience customers with materials to consider for applications that require biocompatibility.
Additionally, Bayer MaterialScience was recognized for understanding the needs of its customers by developing innovative medical grades for high-performance applications.
Frost & Sullivan pointed out that Bayer MaterialScience also provides valuable technical and regulatory support, which has enabled the company to establish itself as a key materials supplier to the health care market.
“Bayer MaterialScience is honored to receive this award and to be recognized for the hard work and dedication of all of our employees,” says Kevin Dunay, market segment leader, Medical Polycarbonates NAFTA, Bayer MaterialScience LLC. “For almost 50 years, medical device OEMs and the health care market have relied on our proven materials and technical expertise. It’s a track record that began with the use of Makrolon polycarbonate in the first blood oxygenators and renal dialyzers in the 1960s. We will continue to strive to offer our customers the best possible products and technical support in the health care market.” |
