The concrete used in
roads, bridges and rail tunnel construction can be subjected to
nearly continuous attack by aggressive exhaust gases and increased
use of de-icing salts. The resulting damage to the surface exposes
the reinforcing steel to corrosion and degradation.

The Boyne Bridge in Southern Ireland, during application of the
Baytec SPR system (in blue color) in 2003.
A proven solution to this
problem is a seamless, elastic waterproofing seal based on Baytec®
SPR thick film coating systems, which resists damage caused to concrete
by freeze/thaw cycles and corrosion. Baytec® SPR system’s
polyurethane backbone yields excellent flexibility that allows the
thick-film coating to bridge gaps, cracks and microfissures.
A properly outfitted worker applies the Baytec SPR system to a public transportation rail bridge in New Jersey in 2003.
Even rough or uneven surfaces, such as this underlying structure of a roadway bridge in Westchester County, New York, can be waterproofed with the Baytec SPR system.
