Manholes, digester tanks
and concrete piping are under constant attack from sulfuric acid,
which is secreted by a variety of thio bacteria that colonize on
the walls of these wastewater structures. This quickly causes corrosion
of exposed concrete and metal surfaces.
The
Baytec® SPR system mitigates this problem by effectively separating
the acid from the surface that could be attacked. And because the
Baytec SPR system has great acid and microbial resistance, it will
continue to fight the battle against corrosion for years to come.

This sewage treatment facility in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates,
was protected with the Baytec SPR system in 2000. The thick Baytec
SPR coating resists exposure to the dilute sulphuric acid in the
sewagetanks.
