Bayblend ET 1000

Chemical Resistance

Extruded and thermoformed plastic parts often are exposed to various chemicals during the lifetime of the application. The compatibility of Bayblend resin with these chemicals is one of the factors that determines the service time of an application.

Bayer MaterialScience has compiled data regarding the compatibility of Bayblend ET1000 with a variety of chemical agents. This testing is for chemical compatibility only and not for efficiency of performance. Typically, the exposure is at room temperature for 24 hours, but other temperatures and exposure times may be used, too.

Following is a list of chemicals that were tested for their compatibility with Bayblend ET1000. These chemicals were largely selected by Bayer's customers, however, it is not a comprehensive list.

The following three tables present the results of testing with cleaning agents, automotive and RV care products, and miscellaneous chemicals.

As is the case with any compatibility test, results are dependent on variables, such as concentration, time, temperature, part design and residual stresses, and should serve only as a guideline.  It is imperative that production parts be evaluated under actual application conditions.

For the compatibility testing, some chemicals were used as-is and some were diluted as suggested on the product label.

The compositions of the listed chemicals may be changed by their manufacturers without notice. Therefore, it is imperative that you test to your own satisfaction whether they are suitable for your intended uses and applications.
